The author is originally from Australia but has travelled, lived and worked on three continents over the past 20 years. He covered almost every beat on the start-up weekly The Budapest Sun from 1993 to 1995, then corresponded, wrote for and edited business and finance publications in the Czech Republic, Australia and the United States. Since arriving in the US in 1999 he has written freelance articles on Internet advertising and banking, personal investing, trading and the financial markets, mostly for monthly magazines. This is his first attempt at writing a weblog.


Hobbies and interests: writing, professional sports, betting, all current events. Regular reading: The Economist, The New Yorker, St Louis Post-Dispatch, various other daily papers. Topics of interest: Criminal justice, the "war" on drugs, education policy, science - esp. biology, sports, the two-party state.
